Grand Rapids goalie Gabe Holum had 58 saves for the Thunderhawks during the first home game of the season against Benilde St. Margaret’s Saturday. The Red Knights broke through late in the first period when Dylan Hoen scored on Benilde St. Margaret’s 23rd shot on goal with 1:09 remaining in the period. In the second period, Joe Collins, broke up a pass at center ice and drove to the net, scoring a short-handed goal at 13:01. Less than a minute later, Matt Kocourek added to the Red Knights’ lead to put Benilde St. Margaret’s up, 3-0. Collins netted his second goal seven minutes into the third period and Jerome Newhouse closed the scoring with another Red Knights goal 30 seconds later. Thunderhawks goalie Gabe Holum had 58 saves.
