From Cameras to Paint Brushes
The Mighty Five, AKA the ICTV staff as we like to call ourselves, spent an amazing day yesterday volunteering for Itasca County Habitat for Humanity. My son Michael and Beth’s daughter Addie also helped us out! Our job was to paint siding, and boy, did we paint a lot of it! But it wasn’t just about the work. It was about the camaraderie and teamwork. We split into teams, the guys in the warehouse and the gals in the ReStore, and together, we made a difference. After painting many siding lengths, we had to transfer it to drying racks to allow it to cure before it got a second coat. We had a blast, and lunch from Sammy’s was a highlight of the day!
The new home at the old Forest Lake Elementary site will soon be clad with beautiful blue siding. Even though it’s in my neighborhood, I hadn’t been by in a while, but after we finished painting for the day, I drove by to check it out. I was amazed at all the houses that now fill the area that was once the school district’s land. I’m sure many new homeowners will be thrilled with their new homes.
Overall, it was a wonderful day filled with fun, hard work, and the satisfaction of making a difference.
