About This Event

Around 12,000 years ago, the first humans came into this land known today as Northern Minnesota. From those people through today’s 21st Century inhabitants, people have used and transformed this place. Who were all these people? Why did they want the land? How did they get control of it? What are some of their stories? Come on a journey through time.

Mary Palcich Keyes is familiar to area residents for her “Years of Yore” weekly page about aspects of Iron Range history in the Mesabi Tribune and affiliated newspapers. Mary holds leadership roles in the Hibbing Historical Society and represents that society on the St. Louis County Historical Society Board of Governors. She has taught classes about Minnesota history and research with the Minnesota Historical Society. Mary and her husband give tours of historic Hibbing and its magnificent high school.
