My Fair Lady Preview and Director's Comments
A Scene from "My Fair Lady"On Thursday, March 4, the Grand Rapids Area Library was the stage for a taste of the upcoming Grand Rapids Players' production of "My Fair Lady." The program featured comments from Director John Schroeder and an introduction of five main characters by those who are playing their parts. This was followed by a preview of a scene acted out by those same characters. Filmed by ICTV volunteer Donna Waech, this program can be seen throughout the next few weeks on ICTV. Please watch our online schedule for air dates and times. The Grand Rapids Players' production of "My Fair Lady" will be at the Reif Center on March 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. RJEMS 7th and 8th Grade Winter Choir Concert
"Decades"On Thursday, February 25, 7th and 8th grade students from Robert J. Elkington Middle School hit the stage at the Reif Center. They held their winter choir concert entitled, "Decades." The performance featured songs from each decade starting in the 20's. Produced by ICTV's Jamie Hall, this concert can be seen on the public access channel beginning on Monday, March 8 at 7pm. Comfort Food with a Healthy Slant
Beatrice OjakangasOn Thursday, February 18, the Grand Rapids Area Library program featured regional cooking celebrity Beatrice Ojakangas. Bea was there to talk about how to prepare comfort foods in a healthier fashion. She discussed some of the ingredients to watch out for and what substitutes can be used instead. She also talked about her personal experience in writing cookbooks, of which she has authored 27 with 28 on the way. She also touched on the history of dieting in America, and answered many audience questions on various subjects. ICTV staff was on hand to record this presentation and it can be seen on Saturday, February 27 at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 28 at 2:00pm on your local public access channel. Kick Off to the Olympics!
Winter Olympic Sports PresentersOn Thursday, February 11, the Grand Rapids Area Library program was all about Winter Olympic sports. The program featured six guest speakers in all, each sharing their personal experience and knowledge of the sport they are involved with. Up first was Jeff Fortune. He talked about Olympic snowboarding and how he got involved. His presentation was followed by Harry Hutchins. Harry shared a PowerPoint presentation on both ski jumping and Nordic combined skiing. The next sport to be highlighted was curling, and it was presented by Darryl Solem. Biathlon was the final sport of the evening. The presentation was started by Jon Byrne, and he was later joined by Addie Byrne and Kevin Patzoldt. All of the speakers did an excellent job of explaining their sports and the special connections those sports have with Northern Minnesota. ICTV volunteer Donna Waech was in attendance at this program and recorded it to be shared on ICTV. Please check ICTV's online schedule for air dates and times.
