Grand Rapids Hockey vs Bemidji-2018-Rapids wins 4-1

Grand Rapids Hockey vs Bemidji Minnesota-2018-Rapids wins 4 to 1- High School Hockey- It was a complete game all-around for the Grand Rapids boys hockey team as the Thunderhawks skated to a 4-1 victory over Bemidji Monday at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids. The Lumberjacks held a 1-0 lead after the first period, but the Thunderhawks took control of the game, scoring a pair of goals in the second period, while goalie Gabe Holum stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced to limit Bemidji to the lone goal. Play was back-and-forth in the first period until the Lumberjacks gained extended offensive zone time with under four minutes left. With the Thunderhawks unable to clear the puck from their zone, Bemidji’s Joe Leitner broke through, putting a shot past Holum for a 1-0 Lumberjacks’ lead. Midway though the second period, Grand Rapids scored the equalizer after Jax Broking found Nano DeGuiseppi at 10:34 in the frame. Less than two minutes later, with the Thunderhawks on the power play, Anthony DelGreco scored the go-ahead goal off a feed from DeGuiseppi. Holum continued to shut down Bemidji into the third period and Grand Rapids extended its lead to 3-1 with another Deguiseppi to DelGreco score at 9:15. Jack Burnson also assisted on the two scores. The Lumberjacks pulled goalie Matt Fitzgerald late, then Burnson put the game away with a long, cross-ice shot which found its way between the pipes with 44 seconds left.
