In an interview with Parks and Recreation Director Dale Anderson this morning, he said that the roof is currently being constructed by Champion Steel.  They hope to have the structure completed by December 16.  Anderson explained if Champion Steel stays on schedule with weather permitting it will then take the city crew a couple of weeks to complete the hockey boards and glass.  It will then take them a couple of days to make ice and build it to a skate able level.  Fingers crossed they hope to have kids skating in the pavilion by early next year!

This week Itasca Community Television recorded a new episode of Just Outdoors. Host Tom Chapin talked with Dave Roerick who is a retired U.S. Forest Service forester, about how to cut down a tree – from equipment through method. A demonstration in the winter woods was warranted as well. Timber!
