Colon Cancer

The latest presentation in Grand Itasca’s “Doc Talk” series took place on Tuesday, March 21 at the Itasca County Family YMCA. The presenter was Dr. Lisa Owens, General Surgeon. She gave a presentation on Colon Cancer. During her presentation she talked about: what colon polyps and colon cancer are, what are the risk factors involved, how colon cancer can be prevented in most patients, and what options are available for screening and treatment. ICTV staff was in the audience to record this presentation.

Each Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm, ICTV pulls programs out of the archive of past productions and plays them on the Public Access Channel. Coming up on Saturday, March 25, we will be replaying the Summer Concert Series performance, “An Autobiographical Recital.” This will be followed by the Itasca Symphony Orchestra concert from February 2005. The following week, April 1, will begin with the 2016 Summer Concert Series program, “Music Without Limits – In Our Way.” This will be followed by the ICC O Gitch I Dah Spring 2014 Powwow.

Spirituality: The Native American Path

The Grand Rapids Area Library held a program for the community on Tuesday, March 7. The featured speaker was Dan Jones, instructor at Fond du Lac Community and Tribal College. He talked about Ojibwe spiritual practices and how history has impacted them. Recorded by volunteer David Hayes, this program can be seen on ICTV’s Public Access Channel beginning on Sunday, March 19 at 9:30pm. It is also scheduled to play on Wednesday, March 22 at 5:30pm; and Saturday, March 25 at 7:30pm. Tune in to learn more about this very interesting topic.
