Don't forget your flu shot!

The Flu season is upon us.  Flu is a contagious disease that spreads around the United States every year.   The season ranges from October to as late as May, with peak activity occurring between December and February.  Each year thousands of people in the United State die from the flu and many more are hospitalized.  Flu vaccine prevents millions of illness and flu-related visits to the doctor each year.  The CDC recommendation is to have the vaccine by late October.  Flu Shot Clinics are being offered for students at district 318 schools starting on October 16th at Bigfork Schools, October 22 Cohasset Elementary, October 23 Forest Lake Elementary, October 24 at Southwest Elementary and Murphy Elementary, October 25th at the Robert J. Elkington Middle School and October 28th at Grand Rapids High School.   Many local pharmacies are also offering the ability to walk in and get your flu shot.  The CDC recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get vaccinated every flu season.  It takes about 2 weeks for protection to develop after vaccination.
